How to Set Up Auto-Forwarding

Auto-forwarding sends a copy of your newsletters to readinbox automatically. Set it up once and every new issue is converted to EPUB and delivered to your e-reader.

Before You Start

You'll need your unique readinbox forwarding address. Sign up or log in, then find it on the Settings page. It looks like [email protected]

Gmail

  1. 1Open Gmail and click the gear icon, then See all settings.
  2. 2Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and click Add a forwarding address.
  3. 3Enter your readinbox forwarding address and confirm via the verification email Gmail sends.
  4. 4Go back to See all settings and open the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
  5. 5Click Create a new filter. In the From field, enter the newsletter sender's email address.
  6. 6Click Create filter, check Forward it to, select your readinbox address, and save.

Tip: Repeat steps 5–6 for each newsletter you want on your e-reader. You can also use "OR" in the From field to combine multiple senders into one filter.

Outlook / Hotmail

  1. 1Open Outlook and go to Settings Mail Rules.
  2. 2Click Add new ruleand give it a name (e.g. "Forward to readinbox").
  3. 3Set the condition: From contains the newsletter sender's address.
  4. 4Set the action: Forward to and enter your readinbox forwarding address.
  5. 5Click Save. New emails from that sender will be forwarded automatically.

Tip: You can add multiple senders to the same rule by adding more "From" conditions with "or".

Apple Mail (iCloud)

  3. 3Click Add a Rule.
  4. 4Set the condition: If a message is from and enter the newsletter sender's address.
  5. 5Set the action: Forward to and enter your readinbox forwarding address. Click Done.

Other Email Providers

Most email providers support rules or filters. Look for Rules, Filters, or Forwarding in your provider's settings. The setup is the same:

  1. 1Create a new rule or filter.
  2. 2Set the condition to match the newsletter sender's email address.
  3. 3Set the action to forward matching emails to your readinbox address.

Tips for Best Results

Forward Per Sender

Create one forwarding rule per newsletter. This gives you full control over which newsletters reach your e-reader.

Avoid Blanket Forwarding

Don't forward all email to readinbox. Use filters to target specific newsletter senders so only relevant content is converted.

Test With One Newsletter

Start by forwarding a single newsletter. Once it arrives on your e-reader, add more senders to your forwarding rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find my readinbox forwarding address?

After signing up, your unique forwarding address is shown on the Settings page and during onboarding. It looks like [email protected].

Can I forward all my email to readinbox?

We recommend forwarding only newsletters, not all email. Use filters or rules in your email provider to forward specific senders. readinbox processes newsletter content — personal emails and other messages will be ignored.

What if my email provider isn't listed here?

Most email providers support rules or filters that can forward messages to another address. Look for 'Rules', 'Filters', or 'Forwarding' in your provider's settings. The key step is the same: forward emails from your newsletter sender to your readinbox address.

Do I need to keep the forwarding rule active?

Yes. The forwarding rule tells your email provider to send a copy of each newsletter to readinbox. If you disable or delete the rule, new newsletters will stop being forwarded.

Will I still receive newsletters in my inbox?

Yes. Forwarding sends a copy to readinbox — the original email stays in your inbox unless you add an action to archive or delete it in your filter rule.
